George Cooke

I'm cellist and composer based in north London. I've composed for award-winning directors and performed internationally. I studied at Oxford and the RCM.

My composition has been broadcast on the BBC and various Oscar-qualifying festivals. Melody provides the soul of the music, which often features my own playing on cello.

I travel to Kolkata each year to study Hindustani music, and perform regularly with Deepa Nair Rasiya and the Anuraag Collective. In 2018 I toured India and Bangladesh with pianist Frederic Bager.

Formerly a Leverhulme Fellow at Pro Corda, I teach a class of talented young cellists in Canonbury using the Suzuki method.
